Why Consistency is Key

The pain stopped, so you did too. Why keep doing a corrective movement if the pain’s gone? It makes sense in the moment until you’re right back at square one.
So what’s the actual answer to staying pain-free?
Consistency. Not just knowing what to do, but doing the right things often enough that they actually stick.
Most people don’t fall apart because they’re doing too much. They fall apart because the second they start feeling better, they stop doing what was working. The habits fade, your body stiffens up again, your strength drops off, and the pain creeps back in.
I’ve seen this happen over and over not just with clients, but in my own training too. If you don’t keep doing what got you there, the progress fades, usually in the form of reinjury.
One study showed that people who trained at the same time each day worked out more consistently and for longer durations.
Another found that when movement becomes habit or something you don’t need to think about, people stop skipping and start making real progress.
None of this has to be complicated, and it definitely doesn’t have to be perfect. But it does have to be consistent.
✅ Pick a time and protect it.
✅ Do what you can. If that means part of the routine, that's better than nothing.
✅ Stick to what works. If there are a select exercise or two in a routine that work best for you, stick to those!
That’s how you stay out of pain and keep moving forward pain-free.
